The nearest car drop-off point is outside the main entrance of the British Council Colombo premises on Alfred House Gardens Road.
There is also a drop-off point that can be used by visitors with disabilities. Please contact us before your visit so that we can arrange this.

PARKING
The British Council in Colombo does not have a car park.
- There are public accessible parking spaces on Duplication road. To use these you may need to pay a parking fee.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE
MAIN ENTRANCE
The main entrance to the Colombo British Council is not accessible to people using wheelchairs or pushchairs.

There is a set of six steps leading up to the main entrance.
ACCESSIBLE ENTRANCE
Step-free access to the Colombo British Council is provided via the accessible entrance by entering through the main gate.
If you wish to use this entrance please call us when you arrive.
Wheelchair or pushchair access to the Colombo library and Teaching Centre classrooms is via a lift.
INSIDE THE BUILDING
There are several customer service desks 10m to the left of the main entrance. Our staff will be happy to help if you require any assistance.
If you use a wheelchair, we will speak with you about a suitable emergency evacuation plan.
The ground and first floors of the Colombo British Council feature some wide level corridors accessible to visitors using wheelchairs. Other sections of the building have steps up and down, for which there are no ramps.
There is a café on the ground floor.

MEETING ROOMS
There are accessible meeting rooms on the ground and first floors.
LIFT AND STAIRS
You can reach the first floor by lift or stairs.
- The lift is a passenger lift.
- The lift door width is 76.2cm and the buttons are within 152.4cm of the floor.
- The lift does not have Braille buttons.
- The lift does not have an audible announcer.
- The stairs have a handrail on the right-hand side.
Please contact us before your visit if you think the lift will be unsuitable for you so that we can make alternative arrangements.
ACCESSIBLE TOILET
There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor. It is suitable for people using wheelchairs.
