Mind Adventures will write, rehearse and stage a play in 24 hours! Ruwanthie de Chickera will write, while Tracy Holsinger will direct actors Pasan Ranaweera, Arun Welandawe-Prematilleke, Ruvin de Silva, Tehani Chitty and Vindhya Fernando. We will start at 09.00p.m. on 06 December 2015, with our cast interviewing supermarket checkout clerks about their lives and experiences. We will then develop the play over the course of the day and perform it at 08.00p.m. at the British Council Library.
The 24 hour play is a relatively new concept that theatre companies overseas are staging with great success. As a theatre company that likes to stay up to date with global theatre practices, Mind Adventures will give the format a try as part of their activities as Artists’ in Residence at the British Council.
Interestingly, apart from selling tickets at the British Council Library, the Company plans to live video stream the rehearsal process so that audiences can truly experience how the show comes together within the 24 hour period.
