Poetry wrinting competition workshop

We are conducting a workshop to help you learn how to express yourself through poetry and improve your poetry writing skills. Each participant will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the workshop. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Vivimarie Vanderpoorten.

Vivimarie Vanderpoorten

Dr. Vivimarie Vanderpoorten teaches English language, literature and Linguistics at the Open University of Sri Lanka, and has published three volumes of poetry. Her first book, 'nothing prepares you' won the 2007 Gratiaen Prize, her second book, 'stitch your eyelids shut' jointly won the State Literary Award and her most recent collection of poems 'Borrowed Dust' was shortlisted for the 2016 Gratiaen Prize. Her poetry has been translated to and published in Sinhala, Swedish and Spanish. Three of her poems were recently published in Pakistan, in the ' The Mongrel book of Voices - Volume I - Breakups'. One of her poems is now on the GCE (Advanced Level) syllabus for English.
