Wenlido ('women's path of strength') is a form of psycho-physical self defence, based on feminist principles, that focuses on creating overall safety, including in intimate relationships. It is based on women's experiences of violence and uses the strength women have to resist violence. It provides tools to help women and girls feel powerful and safe in their bodies, and to challenge the stereotype that 'men are powerful and women are weak', as a lived reality, not just in theory. It teaches women to use their voice and to take up more space in society. This introductory session will cover basics of assessing and recognising violence, assertiveness and basic physical techniques to defend oneself.
